SKY PASSAGE
From Quebec, Canada
Sky Passage is a progressive rock project founded by Quebec composer Mathieu Cossette, also known for his work in Inner Odyssey, one of the key bands of modern Quebec progressive rock.
Their debut album, The Gathering (2024), opens with the instrumental “Scales of Justice” before unfolding into the twenty-two-minute title track. The record blends progressive rock, metal, orchestral arrangements and atmospheric synths, recalling the ambition of conceptual works in the vein of Ayreon or Dream Theater.
Conceived as an immersive concept project, The Gathering brings together 12 musicians and vocalists to tell a story imagined by Émile Rioux Pellerin, set within the infernal realms and driven by a strong narrative focus. The story follows three characters: the Bard performed by Frank Barns (Meltryon), the Thief by Achraf Loudiy (Aeternam) and the Saint by Maxim Beaulieu (Warning Sign). They are supported by an ensemble including Gabriel Cossette and Laurent Lavallée on guitars, Alex Rancourt (Inner Oddyssey, Mind Flayer) on bass and Cédric Lepage (The Anchoret, Inner Odyssey) on drums, along with contributions by Isabelle Cormier, Marc-Antoine Bouchard, Adrien Alexandre Aubert and Antoine Guertin (Aeternam, Hillward), who also handled mixing and mastering.
Developed over nearly a decade, The Gathering reflects a long creative process shaped by multiple rewrites and studio sessions. ProgStorm Festival 2026 will mark the first-ever live performance of Sky Passage.
