CAR BOMB

From New York, United States

Car Bomb is an experimental and hyper-aggressive metal band from Long Island, New York, formed in 2000. Their music is built on evolving polyrhythms, abrupt tempo shifts, down-tuned syncopated guitars, jazz-influenced drumming and harmonically deconstructed riffing, creating a sound that is both violently heavy and deliberately disorienting. Known for their unpredictability and fluid, ever-shifting structures, Car Bomb has carved out one of the most distinctive identities in modern extreme metal.

They released their debut album Centralia through Relapse Records in 2007 and supported it with US tours alongside High on Fire in 2008 and Gojira in 2009. Their self released w^w^^w^w in 2012 featured Joseph Duplantier of Gojira, with whom they toured again that same year. In 2014, they were invited to Europe for the first time, opening for Meshuggah on the band’s twenty fifth anniversary tour. Meta followed in 2016, featuring Joseph Duplantier once again, along with Frank Mullen of Suffocation. They later released their album Mordial in 2019 and, more recently, their EP Tiles Whisper Dreams in 2025.

Car Bomb's career is marked by a long list of collaborations and tours with some of the most respected names in the genre. Since their inception, they have toured extensively, sharing stages with major acts such as Meshuggah, Periphery, Animals As Leaders, Tesseract, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Gojira.

Their longstanding connection with Gojira continues today and is currently drawing significant attention worldwide, since Greg Kubacki, Car Bomb’s guitarist, has stepped in to perform live guitar for Gojira on their current tour in France after Joe Duplantier sustained an injury.

Now based at Silvercord Studios in Brooklyn, Car Bomb continues to push the boundaries of extreme and experimental metal, backed by a dedicated and ever-growing following.
